Parameters: Length: 74 km. Ascent: 933 meters. Terrain: paved, unpaved, gravel. Recommended bike: MTB, trekking, gravel. Difficulty: 4. Estimated time: 4 hours. Start: Liptovsky Jan
On the first half of the route we will ride on the souther side of the water reservoir Liptovská Mara and then we along the dam wall get to the north side. Through the field roads and paths spreading across flowering meadows we will gradually pass several villages (Závažná Poruba, Iľanovo, Ploštín, Pavčina Lehota and Lazisko). By our left hand are still forests of Low Tatras but behind the village Lazisko we will aim to the route on the top of dam wall.
On the route there, we pass old mining village Dúbrava, behind which we could eventually visit same called valley where at the end is former mining factory. But we continue down the asphalt road to Ľubela, Krmeš and Vlachy. Here we turn right and follows a short climb to the road on the top of water dam.
We continue this route right to the village Liptovská Sielnica where behind the village we turn right and finally we get to the offroad section again. In front of us is around 6 kilometer ascent and then 2 kilometer plane which is followed by another 3 kilometer ascent. But no worry after this section follows long and nice descent. Here those viewpoints and lovely forest roads pay off for this effort.
At the end of this offroad section we got to the mouth of the Žiarska Valley. Here we turn right and continue along the asphalt road down to village Žiar and then Smrečany. Here we turn left and a very short climb on an old asphalt road to village Veterná Poruba follows.
Then only descent to Liptovský Mikuláš and through the road on the bank of the river Váh we get back to Liptovský Ján.
